Let’s get started!

1. How to profit using craigslist.org

First off an introduction to craigslist.org, www.craigslist.org is a gigantic directory of things to buy and sell, services, jobs, and much more. It is the 17th most visited site on the planet. It originated in San Francisco but due to its popularity expanded to many of the major cities across the U.S. Think of it as an eBay minus the bidding, and minus the fees! It has a text-only interface making it fast loading and ad-free. Best of all there are no fees, it’s free to buy and sell things using Craigslist.org.

So you’re probably thinking “ok that’s great, but how do I make money using it”. I will show you. I use craigslist.org on a daily basis, this is one of the first things I do in the morning after I wake up. A lot of people use it to get rid of there “junk”, remember the phrase “what’s one man’s junk is another man’s treasure” well that rings true on a daily basis for me and soon for you!

Now lets go inside the “for sale” section and take a look at some of the things they have for sale.

*Note: craigslist has many different categories other than the “for sale” section browsing the other sections has spawned many business ventures for me, don’t limit yourself to just the for sale section, go ahead an browse the others. I am just using the “for sale” section for the sake of showing you how to make some cash.

So while browsing the “for sale” section, I already notice a potential good deal.

Let’s take a closer look at the “six used Motorola v600”

So after contacting that person about the condition of the phones, I researched the selling price on eBay. You can do this by using the advanced search option and looking up completed items. At the time I noticed the average selling price for a used v600 was $190 each! At this point I am quite excited, 6 v600 at $275 would make them only $45 each, giving me a profit of $145 on each one! The great thing about craigslist is that it is local, you can meet up with the seller in person, so that’s exactly what I did. I looked over the condition, (it was great), made sure all parts were there, common sense type checks. I asked the seller how she obtained these phones and she told me that her company was upgrading phones and that she would be getting more. I decided to buy the phones from her. After purchasing the phones I simply listed them on ebay. I sold the six phones and made about $800 profit.

Now lets add this up, 5 mins. to find the item on craigslist, 5 mins. to research the item on eBay, 30 mins. to meet up with the seller, and another 15 mins. to list the phones on eBay. About an hour’s work for $800 bucks profit, not bad at all. To add to this I bought about 50 more of these phones from the same lady and ended up making over $6,000 in profit after listing them on eBay for only a few hours of work!

Here’s another recent craislist example, I was browsing around craigslist.org (Illinois edition) and found this old school camera (it actually takes floppy disks), the seller was asking for $45 bucks, I researched it on eBay using the “completed items search” and noticed an average sell price of about $140. I listed it at $125 for a quick sale and boy was it quick, it sold in about 2 hours after listing it (see picture). So again for about half an hours work I cashed in about $800 profit.

These are just two examples of the many that I have encountered using craigslist.org. I live in (Illinois) where the craigslist.org community is relatively small and I am able to find at least 2 or 3 decent deals everyday. If you live in or near a city where the crigslist.org community is big, you will have a lot more options to choose from. Having a lot more options leads to being able to make more money!! If you average $100 profit per deal you could easily make $200-$300 for a few hours of work. I have bought items big and small, from cell phones to cars, I would suggest starting off buying small items and once you get the hang of it go ahead and start purchasing the bigger money makers.

How to profit using Craigslist.org in a NUTSHELL

> Browse through your cities “for sale” section > Look for potential products that you can sell (I usually stick to electronics/technology products) > *IMPORTANT* Research the item on eBay, using the “completed items search” option > If there is a worthy enough profit margin, purchase the products from your local craigslister and list it on eBay!

2. How to profit reselling event tickets

Tickets to the hottest events usually sell out really fast, usually on the first day. The key to getting highly profitable tickets are to get them either on the first day or before the first day of sale, also known as pre-sale tickets. This can all be done from the comfort of your home. I will explain how you can get access to pre-sale tickets and give you a list of sites that offer pre-sale codes on occasion, and most importantly how to turn those sold-out event tickets into to cold hard CA$H!!

If you are just starting off with re-selling event tickets we suggest that you start selling tickets of events that take place in your own city, to ensure general knowledge/ background of the city and venue. Once you get the hang of it you can start buying tickets in other cities.

Before purchasing any event tickets you need to research a few key elements to ensure maximum profitability.

The two things to Research before purchasing tickets: Supply & Demand

* Supply: The Size of the event’s venue (1,500 seats? 15,000 seats?)
* Demand: Popularity of the event or performer.

The Supply of the event – The Supply of the event’s venue is an important factor. You need to first determine how many tickets will be available, the more seats/tickets available the lower the profitability will be. The lower the seats/tickets available the more the profitability for each ticket will be. Another factor in supply is how many times that event will run, for example if comedian Dave Chappelle comes to town and they schedule 2 shows and each show has 15,000 seats available you want to make sure the demand (see next paragraph) is there. If a big name act comes to town and there is only one show available more than likely you can count on the show selling out. Use your judgment. It usually comes down to using common sense.

The Demand of the event -Study the demand of the event that is going to take place, whether it’s a sports event, like an NBA Basketball game or whether it’s a rock concert like U2, you can determine if the event will sellout based on a few key factors, the advertising/publicity of the event, the talk around town, radio announcements, study the trend of past performances or games. Let me give you an example, let’s say for instance you live in L.A. and the Lakers are having a great season and their starting to pick up popularity. You notice that last game they sold out, that’s great news, based on previous experience once a game sells out the games following it usually follow the same trend, so buy tickets for those upcoming games. If they end up going into the playoffs, your almost guaranteed a sell-out, if your team ends up going to the finals, buy as many tickets as you can, from my past experience they have always sold out. To get a more accurate analysis of whether a performer will sell out or not visit there official website and check out their past performances, if it’s a sports event check out their official website or the league’s website such as (nba.com).

Now you understand the principles of supply and demand in the ticket reselling business, great, now where to get these tickets!

Where to buy tickets

Ticketmaster.com is the number one source for purchasing tickets off the internet and from the comfort of your home. This is the main source in which I buy my very own tickets for reselling. Its fast and it is very easy to use. There is one other option to Ticketmaster.com that I use, and that is going to the actual (physical) box office of the venue. For example, if I wanted to pick up some tickets for a Lakers game and I want to guarantee my spot in getting some of the best tickets, I would go down to the staples center (the arena that the Lakers play at) a few hours before the tickets go on sale and purchase as many as I possibly could.

There is one trick of the trade that I will now discuss that will allow you to purchase the tickets before the general public can purchase them. Only a select few with presale codes will be able to purchase pre-sale tickets.

Where to buy pre-sale tickets

Buying pre-sale ticket for the most part is done on ticketmaster.com, but it requires a pre-sale code, getting access to the pre-sale codes is the tricky part, here are a few sites that I personally use to get my pre-sale codes:

Fatwallet -http://www.fatwallet.com/t/24/581239 this is the section of the forum dedicated to the discussion of presale codes to events ranging from baseball games to comedy shows, a great source for presale codes from all across the nation!

TalkTix.com – this is another discussion forum where professional and nonprofessional ticket brokers come to discuss pre-sale codes and give the heads up on the hottest tickets. Also in depth discussion of what to buy, and what not to buy take place here.

Sign up on the artist’s and Radio Stations mailing list / fan club – Most artist’s have official websites and on there website they have fan clubs or mailing lists, be sure to sign up for those, as a lot of times they give you access to the pre-sale codes before the general public. Artist use the radio stations to promote their concerts/events be sure to sign up for the radio stations mailing list as well. I have created a separate email account strictly for receiving updates and info pertaining to concerts and event tickets, I suggest you do the same!

Ok, you’re thinking well great Kekoa, I have some great tickets to these sell-out events but now what? How do I turn it into cold hard CA$H?

Two methods in re-selling tickets: Craigslist.org and eBay.com

As stated earlier craigslist.org is a great place for buying and selling on the internet, there are absolutely no fees! Because Craiglist is local, I have found great success in selling there. Many savvy ticket buyers will usually check either Craiglist or eBay. It is also easy to meet up with your buyers and do the exchange, it also usually sells faster because they can meet up with you face to face and they are more trusting. Ebay is still a great place for selling event tickets, they have a dedicated section for selling event tickets. Because of eBay’s massive popularity, the number of people searching for tickets on a given event is worldwide. You can easily list your tickets and find buyers for them. It is important that you have good feedback, because people are very skeptical when it comes to buying event tickets. There has been a lot of bad press about fraudulent tickets, having good feedback will send the message to the buyer that you are a legitimate seller and that you will not and do sell any fraudulent tickets.

Also you should realize that Ticket master offers two forms of tickets when you’re making your purchase, that is a “Physical ticket” (one that is mailed to you and actually sent to a physical mailing address) and “ticketfast tickets”, (one that is sent via email immediately after making your purchase) you can actually print these tickets from home and walk right up to the ticket booth of the concert.

We have used both in the past but I recommend using “ticketfast tickets” not only is it quick and convenient but its easier to send a link when reselling using “ticketfast tickets” rather than having to wait a week or two for your “hard tickets” to arrive in the mail. If you’re re-selling the tickets on craigslist.org and you are using “ticketfast tickets”, simply print it up and when you meet them give it to them. If your re-selling the tickets on eBay, simply send them a copy of the link to print up the tickets themselves. Once again this is where feedback comes into play, having a higher feedback lets the buyers know that you are trustworthy and it also produces higher ticket selling prices and that means more profit.

($$$!!!)

I have seen people sell tickets right outside the venue on the day of the event but I don’t recommend it and I personally stay away from doing that. Not only in some states is it illegal, but the venues don’t appreciate it when people do that. But if desperate times come to desperate measures go ahead and do it if it is legal in your state, but we suggest staying away from that.

Quick example: While living in Arizona, attending college, I noticed the Phoenix Suns started picking up a lot of press, and we’re having a great season. So I wanted to see them live, I tried getting tickets to their game but got a big fat SOLD OUT! I was bummed and I really wanted to go so I ended up buying some tickets from someone on craigslist for 4 times the face value! Being the business oriented person that I am the gears in my head started turning, I thought “that guy must be raking in the dough!” I personally saw him sell about 10 other tickets to other buyers. He easily made over $1000 for maybe an hour or two of work (if you call standing up and collecting cash work). I was amazed and thought “hey I could do the same” so I did! I bought 12 tickets to the next game and made over $600 dollars for about an hour of work. I listed them on craigslist and started getting calls within the first day of listing them.

Here is an example of what my listing looked like (this is not the actual listing)

Other listing tips and tricks

* Supply pictures of the arena or the venue
* Show a picture of the seating chart and point out where the buyers will be sitting.

How to profit re-selling event tickets in a NUTSHELL

> Research the Supply and Demand > Use Ticketmaster.com to purchase tickets! > Sign up for the artists/sports team/ radio stations official fan club or mailing lists to receive pre-sale codes > Use Fatwallet and Talktix to get the inside scoops on what’s tickets are hot and what’s tickets are not! > Use Craigslist and Ebay to re-sell your tickets

3. How to profit using SlickDeals.net

Slickdeals.net is a site dedicated to providing some of the best deals to products/services on and off the net. It is self proclaimed as “Your source for the best deals on the net”. www.SlickDeals.net provides coupons, discounts, freebies and more on products ranging from airline tickets to wrist watches! They even have deals on services such as inexpensive car rentals and floral delivery, they truly have it all. I use this site on a daily basis, usually spending about 15 to 20 mins. browsing the forum looking at some of the newly listed deals. I do a lot of buying through this site but today I will be telling you how to turn the deals found on slickdeals.net into cold hard CA$H!!!

As stated earlier the entire site is great but I will be concentrating on one particular section. This section is in the forum and is titled “Hot Deals”. It’s kind of hidden at first so I will provide a screenshot.

Here is the homepage of www.slickdeals.net, click on the “Forums” link (pictured below) to enter the “Hot deals” section.

Now click on the “Hot Deals” Section

In here you will find posts from users all across the U.S. posting deals, coupons, rebates, discounts, etc. on all types of products and services.

I will now show you how to convert these great bargains into Cash!!

Here are a few of the many deals that I have converted into cash using the “Hot Deals” section on SlickDeals.net

Example 1

One example was when I was in the “hot deals” section I found a deal on PUR Water Filter Systems, the posting said “Big Lots is having a sale on filter Systems, only $9.99”. So I looked into it, and did some research on eBay, once again making use of the “completed items” search function. While researching I noticed the systems were selling on eBay for $20 each, that would be a $10 profit on each filter system for an easy flip. I then noticed further down in the posting on slickdeal.net that the system came with 2 extra filters, the filters, on eBay were selling on average for $10 each! So lets add it up, $20 for each system sold on eBay, plus $10x2 for the filters that comes out to $30 profit on each system sold ($20+$10+$10-$10(cost of system)=$30 profit!!).

So I went ahead and bought a few…..

I later went ahead and listed them on eBay and made over $3,000 with this deal. I bought about 150 systems. Remember, just because you see a product under “hot deals” doesn’t necessarily mean that it has a high profiting re-sell value.

RESEARCH it on eBay first! (use the “completed items” search function) I can’t stress this enough using the “completed items” search function will show you the current market value and will give you an idea of how much you will be making. Once you have done this, go ahead and pick up the products from wherever the deal states.

Example 2

I saw another posting on slickdeals.net in the forums, under the “hot deals” section. The posting said “Seinfeld Season 1 & 2 DVD set $19.99 at Hollywood video”, so once again I went to eBay.com and used the “completed items” search function, noticed that the average selling price for the DVD set was about $40.

So I was definitely in for some of these, with a profit margin of about $20 who wouldn’t be. I went down to Hollywood Video and they were sold out, but as stated on the slickdeals.net discussion I remembered that Sears had a price match guarantee, so I went down to sears to see if they had them. They sure did! Sears by the way price matches anyone on almost anything, keep that in mind if something sells out at a store, they always honor price matches. Anyway the DVD set was priced at $45.99!, so I went there with my Hollywood Video advertisement in hand (you need proof to receive the price match) and they price matched the $19.99 price of Hollywood Video, I bought all of the DVD sets that they had in stock, and did the same for every other Sears within a 50 mile radius of where I lived (about 5 different Sears stores). To sum it up I ended up making about $3,000 in profit for a few hours of work, I had to go to the different sears stores to pick up the DVD sets, got home created an eBay listing, and they sold like crazy! All from a deal found on slickdeals.net!

*Note – One other factor that you mustn’t neglect is to make sure there is a big enough market for the product. For instance, there maybe a great bargain on a high priced t-shirt folder, but just because the bargain is great, say 75% off, it doesn’t mean there are a ton of people looking for t-shirt folders, stick to popular items and also use the completed items search function on eBay to see how many items of the product have sold in the past, that is a good indicator, if a lot have already been sold, you are safe, if you haven’t seen any sold items of what you want to sell, I would suggest staying away from that product.

**Note 2 – Slickdeals.net show you a lot ways to get great bargains at everyday brick and mortar stores (physical locations). Most retailers offer 30 day returns, although I don’t practice this I know in the back of my mind that if I bought a few hundred of a certain product and tried reselling them but was unsuccessful, I know that I can simply return them. This offers me absolutely no risk! IfI think a product is hot and I know the retailer has a 30 day refund policy I simply buy it without hesitation because I know I can always return it. I usually don’t end up returning any goods because I usually always research it before going out to get the deals.

Slickdeals.net has tons of deals that you can use to convert to cash, I have given you a few proven examples of how to take the deals posted in there and how to convert them into cash!! You can easily do the same, go ahead and check right now to see if there are any good bargains!!

How to profit using slickdeal.net in a NUTSHELL

> go to www.slickdeals.net > click on the “Forums” link > and click on the “Hot Deals” > Decide on a “hot deal” to sell > Research it using the “completed items” search function. > If the profit margin is good, go ahead and purchase the items and list them on eBay!

4. How to profit using your local Newspaper’s Classified Ads

With the advent of the internet, it is now easier than ever before to view your local Newspaper’s Classified Ads online. If you don’t know your local Newspaper’s website you can use http://www.newspaperlinks.com to find it. This site gives a list of all the different Newspaper websites across the nation.

The classifieds have all types of items in them ranging from pets to cars. You can find great deals on an assortment of products.

Ok great, now that you have found your local Newspaper’s website, look for the Classified Ads section. All Newspaper sites are designed differently but most will have tabs in the header of the page.

*Note – There is an obvious alternative to the online edition of the Newspaper and that’s the hard copy edition that you can find at the gas station or maybe you already get it delivered to your door. I prefer to use the online edition because not only is it free (in most cities), but it is also easier to take notes with a simple copy and paste to a note pad if you happen to find a deal.

Ok, so we have established how to obtain the local Newspaper and where to find the classified ads section. Now how to make the money!

Through my experience I have noticed that many people use classifieds to sell their goods because of its proven exposure, most newspapers have hundreds of thousands of readers and because of this it makes it a great source sell things in. I will be concentrating on how you can take advantage of buying items in the classified section and converting it into cold hard cash. I will also give you some of the exact resources that I use to help determine profits, etc.

Most sellers that have their items listed in the newspapers are amateur one time sellers, these sellers are usually first time sellers and are very eager to sell there item. Most of the time the seller has to pay a heavy fee to list there item in the classified ads, it can range from $20-$200. Keeping the item listed there longer means more fees, so they want to sell it right away and they are willing to negotiate in almost all cases. Taking advantage of that weakness is key to bringing down the low cost of an item even lower. Here is an example.

Example 1

Here’s an example of an actual car that I have purchased using my local newspaper classified ads (that’s not the actual ad). Just using common sense I know that it’s a very fuel efficient car and that people our trying to save on gas expenses, so there probably is a market for it.

The first thing I do is call the seller and ask about the general details of the car, asking if anything is wrong, ask if there are any major problems etc. The second thing I do is research it, I use the website www.kbb.com to analyze the market re-sale price, this will let me know how much I could potentially make off buying and then re-selling this car. So I go to www.kbb.com click on the used car values, type in all the detail, such as the condition and mileage etc. KBB then appraises the value of the car, and in this case the appraised value for this ’95 Honda civic is $3800. Based on the condition, and mileage of the car, along with other features the appraised value could’ve been higher or lower. At this point I notice a potential profit of about $2000, so I go ahead and call the seller up. I take it for a test drive and based on my very basic knowledge of cars I purchase it. I am by know means a car mechanic, I just use my basic, everyday knowledge of cars to asses the situation, I also realize that I am just going to be re-selling the car so I am not to picky about the small details, just so long as there are no major problems you should be fine. So I end up purchasing the car for $1800, two days later I list it on craislist.org, and end up selling it for $3500. A quick $1700 profit for a few hours of work. You can do the same! You could also sell it on eBay, but we prefer craigslist because it is local, also because of the size of the product in this case. If you find a bargain in the classified that is smaller in size such as a cell phone, you could definitely list it on eBay. Some tips when trying to get the most money out of selling your product is to take great pictures when listing it, also be sure to clean it up to its maximum potential, and in the case of the car wax it! Remember the first impression is based on the looks of the product, and the first impression is a lasting one, so make sure it’s a good one!

I have given you an example of how using your local classified as can easily make you some serious cash for a few hours of work. Now maybe you don’t want to start off selling a car, that’s fine, maybe you see a digital camera at a bargain price, check it out, call up the buyer, find out the condition, do the research on it to find out the market re-sell price, whether it be using the completed items search function on eBay.com or researching the re-sell price of a car on kbb.com. Find out the market value of the item to help you determine if the profit margin is worth while.

How to profit using your local Newspaper’s Classified Ads in a NUTSHELL

> Browse the classified ads either online or hard copy > Pick a good bargain item > Do your research to find the market value, use eBay’s completed items search function for everyday products. Use Kbb.com to research the market value of cars. > If the item is worth while and yields a good profit margin, call the seller and arrange to pick it up. > Once you receive the item, clean it up, fix it up, etc. > List it on Craislist or eBay, and convert the item into CA$H!!

5. How to profit selling everyday information

I stumbled upon this technique of selling everyday information when I was buying tickets to Universal Studios. I wanted to take my girlfriend on a fun date while on vacation in Los Angeles. So being the deal hunter that I am I tried to find some discounts that were available on the net. I searched for about 30 minutes and found a site that offered a great deal, it was for $30 off the regular price of a $50 admission ticket, so I saved $60 on both of our tickets! I was elated to say the least. Then the entrepreneurial side of me kicked in, I thought “what if others knew about this site, they too could save a lot of money”. So I though to myself “let’s see if this info could sell on eBay. I listed the info on eBay putting in the title, “SAVE $30 ON EACH UNIVERSAL STUDIO ADMISSION TICKET” and in the description I simply and plainly said, “I am selling a link on where you can purchase Universal Studios admission tickets for $30 off the regular price of admission” Shipping is free via email. To sum it up, I sold the info for $8, it was really just sending them the link via email, that’s all it really was. I repeated this process about 50 times and my girlfriend did the same we ended up making about $750 dollars just for listing the info, it took about 5 mins to create a very basic text only listing on eBay and I just re-listed the auction once it ended and kept doing that until the deal was no good anymore. Here’s some proof of the feedback we got from this deal: It’s also interesting to note that information is the number one selling product on the internet. Billions are spent every year on the purchasing of information type products, information leads to knowledge and knowledge is power. Buy purchasing this very e-book you have empowered yourself with a heavy dose of entrepreneurial knowledge.

I did the same thing with a few other discounts/info that I found on the net just browsing on different sites, such as amazon.com. I found a great deal on this Kitchen Aid mixer that my girlfriend wanted. On eBay the going price for one these things was a whopping $175, once again I did my deal hunting and found that amazon.com was having a sale on this mixer for only $100 a $75 savings. So what did I do? First I bought the mixer, then took my new found knowledge (the $75 discount price info on amazon.com) and listed it on eBay which converted into cold hard cash for me!! I sold the information, (a link to the amazon.com page), for $15 each, that way the person purchasing the mixer was still saving $60!!! All I had to do once the buyer purchased the info from me was send them a link to the amazon.com page. My listing for the Kitchen aid mixer on eBay was very basic, it simply explained that upon payment they would receive a link to a page where they could purchase the mixer for only $100. Simple! I ended up selling about 20 of these before the deal was dead, so it ended up paying for the mixer and I had some extra cash. The process of listing it took only a few minutes!

Now these are just two examples of the millions of deals out there on the internet, we all know of deals that others don’t know of, turn your knowledge of these great deals into CA$H by listing them on eBay the same way I did! You can make a lot of money by simply selling information that you already know, and it only takes a few minutes to list and there is no cost to you because there is no inventory and nothing to physically ship, all you have to do is send the info via email!

This technique is the one you want to master because it’s the most profitable, there is absolutely no cost to you, just some of your time.

*Note: One thing to keep in mind is that online deals such as coupons and discounts, for the most part always have an expiration date, make sure you are aware of that, and that you are not listing something that is outdated!

How to profit selling everyday information in a NUTSHELL

> Find a deal or discount in the form of information, coupon code, etc. > Get that info and put it in the form of a listing on eBay > If it sells then great! If it doesn’t no big deal nothing lost, try again.

Completed items search function

I have been making a lot of references to the “completed items” search function, for those of you that don’t know where to find it, here’s a step by step screenshot, check it out!

Click on advanced search

Type in the keyword(s) that your researching, and make sure the completed listing only box is checked, then search!

There you will find a listing of all the past sold items on the product that you are researching.
